Cloud Computing

Cloud computing, is a technology that is changing the way enterprises look to meet their IT hardware and software requirements. Cloud computing is a mix of the latest ideas, technology and delivery models including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS), and other models in the IT sector that use the Internet for delivering services to the user.

Users can access infrastructure namely, the servers, software, and data center space or network equipment; the required computing platform and solution stack for a building an application, covering the cycle of development, testing, deployment, hosting and maintenance; and also most of the regular software applications; these are all provided cheaply and efficiently over the Internet.

Cloud computing seems to be all the rage right now. Here is a lowdown on how it actually works:

Cloud Computing is computation, software, data access and storage services that don’t need end-user knowledge of the particular physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. You can actually compare it with the electrical power grid, you don’t require the specialized knowledge to use it. Just plug in the device and you will be ready to go!

Here are some examples of cloud services:
• Gmail
• Hotmail
• Facebook
• Amazon EC2/S3
• Salesforce.com
• for gamers there are Sony’s PlayStation Network or Microsoft’s Xbox Live.

Recently, Apple launched its iCloud service too, letting you wirelessly sync your music, apps and files across all Apple gadgets you own (and even with family).

If you want to have a location independent business, Cloud Computing is the way to go! Instead of running applications locally on your computer and store data your self, they run on a shared data center maintained by the best industry experts.

Here are some advantages of going with the “cloud”:
1. Decreased costings.
2. Scalability and speed.
3. Innovations.
4. Convenience.

What we are featuring today is a “classic” favorite of iPhone gamers, called California Gold Rush.

The game is simple yet very very entertaining. You can direct your pointer and select where you want to mine your gold from. Upon surfacing you can sell your gold coins or use it to buy items to help you gain more skills and abilities such as supports and explosives.

This Lite or free version offers two levels of gaming fun.  Those who will to continue will have to buy the full version from the App Store.

The game also features a California Gold Rush trivia including information on how people made wealth by mining and investing in gold.  Back in the mid 1800′s a lot of people got rich when gold was discovered in California.  Gold totalling to today’s wealth of 50,ooo was mined.  They became multimillionaire of their times who became owners of businesses, banks, train operation, utility companies, amonst others.

Today, investors still buy gold bars in hopes that they maintain their wealth and earn profit.

On Online Faxing

When the internet was discovered, everyone (and I mean every business, individual, government agency and more) immediately tapped the internet and harnessed the power of being connected to multitudes of computer even at the far end of the globe. The accessibility and connectivity that the internet provides was seen as a powerful tool that can significantly improve communications, increase productivity and attract or reach more audience/clients.
With more and more businesses, agencies and firms that are joining the internet, it is no wonder that most companies are compelled to join the internet revolution and invest on recent technological innovations. The introduction of the internet also made possible mobile workplaces as it allowed employees to go mobile yet connected.
One of the biggest innovations introduced with the dawn of the internet technology is online faxing services. This particular technology uses the internet to send and receive fax messages. This actually way cheaper than its traditional counterpart and is also faster, more reliable and more efficient. It does not matter if your recipient doesn’t have an internet connection because as long as they have a fax machine (the big old bulky one), then you can be assured that your fax message will come through.
Obviously, if you are on a business trip and your destination is on the deepest point of Eastern Siberia, and from where you are there is no internet connection, and then you will not be able to enjoy the full convenience of online fax. However, if you are in the mountains of the Himalayas and from there you can access the internet using your smart phone, then you will still have the capability to send and receive your fax messages.
One setback of online faxing is hacking. Since your data will be sent over the internet, there is always the possibility that your data will be intercepted by a third party and this can be pretty dangerous especially if you are sending very important data. To counter this flaw, most online fax facilities uses encryption technologies that scramble your data before it is sent over the internet. This way, even if your data is intercepted, it will not be read by hackers because the data is scrambled. At this point, however, some argue that traditional faxing is way better than online fax.
However, if we will try to look at online fax using the “benefit lens”, then we can really say that online fax is way better than conventional faxing. For one reason, online fax would allow you to send one fax message to hundreds of recipients (called fax broadcasting) without necessarily dialling and redialling each number one by one. You will never be online with online fax because the internet is never busy. Your customers or clients will never complain that they can’t reach you via fax because fax tone is a never heard concept in the field of online faxing. You can send and receive fax messages simultaneously just as you would send and receive email messages. What more can you ask?

iPhone App Feature: Snack App – keeping your diet plans real

Trying to reach a perfect score on a pc or console game sometimes forces you to be lazy and not mindful of what you eat. For example a lot of gamers feed on mountain dew (for the sugar rush and caffeine) and potato chips while in the midst of playing or hacking a program and most often not eat a decent meal. That’s why there are some of techies out there who can use some sort of calorie calculator as those from FitClick.com an online tool to help you reach your weight loss goal.  The website also features a calorie counting tool that allows you to find what and how much food and calories you should within the course of the day so you can meet your goal.

Here is one of the latest app I found in the AppStore — Snack App. This App let’s you search a snack depending on your craving — could be sweet, salty, crunchy, etc. What’s great is that it allows you to find the best snack to meet your craving at a range of 50, 100 up to 200 calories snack — really helpful when you are trying not to blow your calorie budget from your diet plans for the day. The calorie counter feature in this app is also a great tool as it tells how much exercise or activity can burn what you just snacked on. Cool right?
