Good Luck!

Bookstore

This guest post from Werner Rogers

Books are my life and it’s always been that way for as long as I can remember. Something about reading just calms me down and takes me to another place and I think it’s great that kids can get into reading and it makes them smarter, too. That’s why when I got demoted at work a few years back I saw it as an opportunity to do something new – open a bookstore! It’s not the best time to be an independent bookstore owner but you know what? I didn’t want to let that stop me. I went to www.bank-card-processing.com and had the payment logistics worked out, found some vendors to sell me the good stuff and rented a little spot on North Avenue. Business is booming! I think it has something to do with selling coffee, too, and having such a warm and cozy place for people to work but at the end of the day I don’t really care what’s making it happen. I’m a successful entrepreneur when it comes to books!

Pinterest

This guest post from Lewis Beck

Ken is always pestering me to watch TV with him after dinner. I wish I were interested, but I just can’t get in to all these reality crime dramas. Ever since we ordered DIRECTV HD, he can’t get enough of “The First 48”. My guilty pleasure these days is Pinterest. If you have any intentions of being a productive employee, mother, or student, I’d advise you not to look it up. But, if you’re like me and think that just one more internet site can’t possibly be worse than Facebook and Etsy, then do. And then call me so we can craft together. Martha Stewart can move on over with her “good things” and make way for mason jar lanterns, doily runners, and apple crate bookshelves. I’ve “pinned” more home décor ideas in two weeks than I have since we moved into this house and find myself re-arranging the sofa pillows right from under Ken’s butt. I won’t watch TV with my husband, cook dinner for my family, or even get any real work done at the office, but I can turn a wooden pallet into a headboard in less than three hours. Bam.

My New Phone!

Guest post written by Allen Harding

After years of getting by with the most basic cellphones out there, my eldest daughter convinced me to look into a new smartphone. At first I was kind of resistant to the technology. I love the internet and use it for a many things every day, but I always thought it was a superfluous thing to have on a phone. My daughter is really well versed in smart phones, and she gave me the run down on all of the things it was capable of and why it would be handy in a variety of out-of-the-house situations. I finally caved on the premise that the phone would make texting easier. I never cared for texting, but everyone is doing it and I need something that can help me out a bit.

After having a smart phone in my possession for a few weeks, it’s really grown on me. I’ve been able to access information at times when I’ve needed it, and it’s turned out to be a life saver. I have found everything from restaurants to a new hearing aid by finding more info on MiracleEarHearingAids while I was in the store. I think I really sold this thing short.

iOS 4.1 Bug – DST Alarm Problems

Australia switched between Daylight Savings Time a few weeks ago and over the weekend, Europe followed suit and switched to their Winter Time. Twitter is getting got a slew of complaints related to iphone alarms going off an hour later than usual. Apple had acknowledged this bug and promised to resolve it, according to ZDNet Australia. So far the problem is yet to be fixed. I hope they get a fix before North America switches time on Sunday November 7.

Look at this news from the Financial News Network:

There’s been a series of articles all over the web testing the proposed fix that all alarms should be deleted and reset. While this initially looked like a fix, it isn’t.

The problem appears when using a repeating alarm for anything other than “every day.” So for example, your alarm will go off an hour late if it’s set for “weekdays,” or “weekends,” or every “Monday.” The following alarms are not affected by the bug:

* An alarm that doesn’t repeat (repeat set to “never”)
* An alarm set to repeat “every day”

You can test yourself by creating a repeating alarm (but not every day) to go off one minute in the future and 59 minutes in the past.

iOS 4.1 Critical Bug – Placing Calls While on Locked Mode

I recently discovered a bug with the new iphone operating system (iOS) 4.1 version.  This bug enables users to make phone calls while on locked mode.  While on the “Enter Passcode” screen users can select “Emergency Call” on the lower left hand side, dial in some random number, hit send, and press the hardware lock button on top.  This will gain you access your phone contacts and calling features.   You can place a call, check your voicemail, etc.  But it doesn’t take you anywhere else.

To get out of this mode, you will need to place at least one valid call end that and you will be taken to the original screen where you started and you can enter your pin and fully unlock the iphone.

For more information, look at the video I found below:

Juice Pack Air for the iPhone 4

Iphone users probably have the same complaint across the board, short battery life. With 4G technology, music playing, gaming and now Face Time, iPhone users are yet again runs across the stumbling block of power usage. Last night I saw a new device that acts not only as a battery pack but also a cute case for your iPhone 4 finally no more phone dying in the middle of conversation or amidst playing Angry Birds.   Mophie’s new Juice Pack Air for the iPhone 4 provides extra battery life while simultaneously keeping the phone small and stylish.

I wonder if people are going to be okay with spending $80 for this piece of gadget.  What do you think?

iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Gold

They say diamonds are a girls’ best friend and so are jewelries. Well you geeky divas out there, have you seen the iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Gold? This gadget is a work of art by Stuart Hughes, maker of elite luxury gadgets. Mr. Hughes has been known in the wealthy market, that he customizes electronics by taking gold is various formats such as gold coin and plating the said electronics in gold and encrust them with diamonds. Each of this iPhone includes over 500 diamonds and totals over 100 karats, and comes in its own special granite box.

There had been previous versions of this so called gold iphone but this by far is the most expensive amounting to £5,000,000.00 or a whopping $8Million US. I bet investors would love to have this gadget in their possession not only as a collector’s item but also as an investment. As gold preserves it’s value over time and beside’s there’s been an upward trend in gold value in the last ten years.

Preparing Your Nursery

So you are having your first baby and excited about preparing your baby’s nursery. Here’s a list of essentials to make the ultimate nursery that will be comfortable, soothing and functional for parents, babies and siblings.

While parents can be way excited in selecting everything in blue if having a boy or pink if having a girl, picking nursery furniture that has a more neutral palate such as white, beige or natural wood color so that you can pass it on to the next sibling, therefore avoiding re-buying the safe stuff over.

Also it is wise to select furniture that they can grow with, for example, the Madison changing table system below can be used for it’s primary function now, but can easily be converted to a book case & entertainment system combination or function as dresser and bureau once you add a mirror in the center.

Another example of furniture that your baby can grow in is what they call a three-in-one crib.  Which starts as a very sturdy crib.  Once the baby is older, you can remove the gate and convert to a toddler bed.  And once the child outgrows it, can convert to a twin size bed.

Another furniture that is very useful in a nursery is a glider and ottoman or a rocking chair. This makes feeding time a breeze, and allows parents to relax, put their feet up while rocking their babies to sleep.

You also need a night light, table lamp, baby monitor, a mini fridge is optional but very useful to store baby milk, medication, teethers and food. And don’t forget to baby proof your entire house.

So now that you have your nursery is all set, time to shop for strollers, walkers, high chair and other baby gadgets.

Easier Online Shopping Experience

Our friends have wanted to move away from carrying bulky digital SLR camera and gift themselves with a more condensed and portable digital camera. For a while now, there had been a great buzz on Panasonic DMC-LX3 10.1MP Digital Camera with 24mm Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom or Canon PowerShot S95 10 MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch inch LCD. After seeing that the above mentioned cameras produce SLR quality images, many would like to jump off the DSLR band wagon.

I had been curious but unfortunately, I do not know exactly where to get digital camera reviews, price comparisons, etc. Wouldn’t it be nice if there’s one place we can go to on the internet to get some guidance? Like a shoppers’ buying guide. Of course I would like to get the best deal for my buck. I want to shop online so save me the grief of driving in traffic, lots of holiday shoppers at the mall, and save on fuel and help reduce my carbon footprint.

ShopWiki.co.uk is full of numerous and beneficial buying information, guidance and products. You can find there product specifications, user reviews, prices for a specific item you are looking for. There are also store review and ranking from consumers who have availed products from those stores.
